First Tour – Concept

The concept of First Tour is designed to provide an introduction to touring on a motorcycle as part of a group.

We know that there are many riders that wish to progress from commuting and/or weekend rides with a couple of friends. To help with this most natural of progressions we have devised an affordable, accessible and instructional based pre tour course.

The thought of a tour especially abroad, although exciting to us, is deemed too daunting for some new tourers. Many riders have seen and heard of the exploits of many people talking of the wonders of foreign roads but are also concerned of their own ability to be able to accomplish them.

Common concerns of potential motorcycle tourists:

I am sure that many of us in our motorcycling careers have experienced the following before booking a tour or actually going on a tour:

  • “I have only just passed my test; do I need more experience first?”
  • “Will I be too slow in a group?”
  • “I have never ridden in a group before.”
  • “Why do people talk about dropping someone off?”
  • “I’ve never taken a bike abroad”
  • “I have only ever ridden in towns and I’m not comfortable with sharp bends.”
  • “Will I get lost?”

By providing a structured training delivery you will be gently eased into, not only group riding but also the ideals of tour planning. This will be achieved by:

  • Hazard perception on the road, risk planning and bend analysis
  • Increasing rider confidence in their own ability
  • An introduction to group riding, including individual rider responsibilities
  • Introduction to the concept of British Bike Tours leader policy
  • The essential planning of safety, fuel and rest stops.
  • A gentle introduction to future tour options available with British Bike Tours as part of the customers future development as a group or tour rider

First Tour – Customer Focus

The course will primarily focus on the individual development needs of the client. The lesson plan will ensure that all group teaching is structured, relevant and all individual client needs are attended to.

The delivery of this course will be provided by D.S.A approved motorcycle instructors.

Our very experienced instructors will offer a fun, interactive modulised course, where the customer will feel individually attended to, whilst all other members of the course will realise their own role importance as part of their peers learning process.

The Costs

We can offer ‘First Tour’ at an extremely competitive price.  The costs are as follows:

  • 1 day course (0830hrs to 1700hrs)  - £165 per person
  • 2 day course (0830hrs to 1700hrs) & including 1 night Bed and Breakfast - £270 per person.
