This tour has been a runaway success in 2009. It has been so good that quite a few customers have done it more than
once!! As such we intend to run this trip 5 times in 2010. It has a regular slot from May to September 2010 - the first weekend of each month.
So you want to ride your motorcycle as it should be ridden - on twisty roads, through great scenery. Throw in some
great hotels and fantastic food and you have got the perfect long weekend. This is a motorcycling weekend, there will be not be much sightseeing and you will be on the bike for six hours per
day. Whether you are an experienced motorcyclist or new to the game we will help you gain confidence and perfect your techniques on the twisty roads. Accompanied by a professional guide
who will be on-hand to give advice (should you want it) this is the ideal introduction to riding mountain roads.
DAY 1: Calais to Alsace-Lorraine (270 miles).
Our usual Dover - Calais crossing and then 100 miles on the motorway to get out of Pas de Calais. A bite for lunch and then onto
a National road that will enable us to acclimatise to continental driving. The road will get progressively twistier as we head towards Verdun. A stop off at Verdun is a must before
heading onto our hotel (a converted monastery - no less). Don’t worry there is drink and food a plenty!
DAY 2: A Day in the Mountains (200 miles approx).
Twisty roads, stunning scenery, more twisty roads. We will travel through the heart of the
Vosges - past Rocher de Dabo, along the Route des Cretes, over le Hohneck and Le Grand Ballon (4,600ft). We guarantee that you will have be grinning from ear to ear by the end of
the day. At the hotel, why not relax with a swim in the heated in-door pool before enjoying a few beers and great meal.
DAY 3: Mulhouse to Reims (200 miles approx).
More twisty roads and stunning scenery. Today we will be climbing to a height of 4,000ft
before heading out of the mountains and into the fertile Champagne region. We will overnight in the fantastic city of Reims which is full of great restaurants and bars. The
cathedral at Reims is also well worth a visit.
DAY 4: Reims to Calais (175 miles approx).
Rather than use motorway all the way from reims to Calais we will for the first part of the
day use local roads and only join the motorway when entering Pas de Calais region. Then its onto the ferry for our 90 minute crossing back to the UK.
